About Us
In 2013, Kelly DeGeare founded Easy Readers Tutoring after her nine-year-old son was diagnosed with dyslexia and dysgraphia.
While searching for help and remaining frustrated, she decided to become part of the solution. Kelly trained as a Barton Reading & Spelling tutor, founded an outreach program, and began supporting other families who were searching for local tutoring services.
The name Easy Readers originates from her son. He predicted kids like him wouldn't mind tutoring if it made them an "easy reader" in the end. He was right! Check out our testimonials.
How It Works
We use the Barton Reading & Spelling System along with Kilpatrick's Equipped for Reading Success program. This provides our students with the multi-sensory, direct, and sequential instruction they are not receiving elsewhere.

This Orton-Gillingham approach is research and evidence-based and will greatly improve the reading and spelling of anyone who struggles in those areas. A professional dyslexia diagnosis is NOT necessary to begin tutoring.

ENGAGE
We engage with our students twice per week and offer an explicit, cumulative, multi-sensory, and systematic approach to each lesson in phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and reading fluency.
EMPATHIZE
We empathize with our students and understand their struggles in school, life in general, and the quiet hurts that remain unexpressed.
ENCOURAGE
We encourage our students to trust the process of tutoring and to believe in their capabilities. We know how amazing they are and we strive to get them to see it, too!
